Monza Circuito wins Listed feature

  • The Stephen Marsh satellite stable provided local breeder Kay Hood with a day to remember when MONZA CIRCUITO (image) scored the biggest win of her career in the days feature, the Speight’s Timaru Stakes. A prior Group 3 placegetter and multiple stakes placegetter the seven-year-old mare became a Listed winner in the hands of Wingatui rider Corey Campbell. Favourite MISS TYCOON ROSE and LIVE DRAMA filled the minor placings.
  • The days feature staying race was able to be run for a stake of $60,000 thanks to the efforts of the Marlborough Racing Club and their sponsors KAM Transport who with NZTR contributed over and above the base funding of $40,000.  Good Tapanui galloper MR INTELLIGENCE relished dropping 2kg and ran out a decisive winner for owners and  trainers Barrie and Nikki Blatch and another Wingatui rider in Jacob Lowry.
  • Hot favourite NO DRAMA delivered on the punters expectations in the Nobby Bussell Memorial Two-year-old for Lance Robinson and inform rider Tina Comignaghi.
  • Tina rode two winners on the day as did fellow Argentinian Diego Montes de Oca a relatively new addition as stable apprentice to the Pitman partnership.
  • The meeting was run under the Covid-19 Red Traffic Light conditions.  Essential Workers only were permitted on course for this day.
