The result that locals wanted was not to be with $25 chance KOPUA getting up late to beat MATSCOT and PERFECT SCENARIO in the Group 3 feature. For a horse trained at Wanganui KOPUA is not far from being a local with 13 of his 31 starts being at Riccarton Park for the KT Myers seven-year-old.

·         KOPUA was one of three winners on the day for the Wanganui maestro the others being FINE PROPOSITION in the stayers maiden and ISLAND HOP in the last for CJC Life Member Barry Thomas. Stable apprentice Lily Sutherland rode all three.
