Summer Racing Day 4 Review - 19 February
Te Akau claim a treble
February 20, 2025
Best Rose post-race with co-trainer, Sam Bergerson
  • The fourth and final day of the summer racing season at Riccarton Park was an Industry meeting with the $25,000 stakes of the twilight timetable. It was held on Wednesday as opposed to the Friday of 2024 after a shift to fit with Entain wagering strategies.

  • Te Akau Racing stole the show with three winners all ridden by Michael McNab. BEST ROSE was backed into favouritism to defeat her debut conqueror ZELIA and did just that by three lengths. KABUGEE bounced back from his first up defeat to win the West Fitzroy Apartments Rating 75 1400 and FAMILY TIES improved from her fourth two weeks earlier to win the Kevin Daly Mowers Rating 75 2000.

  • Former good jockey Shankar Muniandy is making a tidy job training nowadays and the Wingatui horseman won the opening event with PERFECT CALIFORNIA. His brother, apprentice jockey Ruvanesh rode the four-year-old mare.

  • POWERFUL MOSS used the drop back conditions of the rating system to record his seventh win in the Racecourse Hotel & Motor Lodge Rating 65, the last on the day. Russell McKay and Ashley Harrington train for Dave Brook and expat South African Billy Jacobson got his first winner at Riccarton Park.
