Diss Is Dramatic wins for Go Racing
October 25, 2022
  • The fourth day of the Spring Racing Season which provides numerous dress rehearsals for the NZ Cup Meeting in two weeks time took place on Good4 going, upgraded to Good3 after race 2, and 11 races were run.

  • In the days feature the Group3 War Decree Stakes the quinella was the same as it had been three weeks earlier in the Inglewood Stud Guineas Trial but this time placings were reversed. The filly DISS IS DRAMATIC beat the colt COGNITO over the 1600 metres with MALBOROUGH BAY again finishing third.  Tina Comignaghi partnered the Lisa Latta trained DISS IS DRAMATIC to record her third win of the day.

  • Two races later the middle-distance horses stepped out in the Sothys Spring Classic over 2000 metres. Kavish Chowdhoory steered ELIZABETH ROSE home to a most popular win. The Anna Furlong and Shane Kennedy trained five-year-old mare is raced by Club Life Member Kevin Hickman together with several his closest friends including regular racegoers Robin Cocks and Mene Mene.  CAMPIONESSA ran second ahead of JACK KNOWS BEST.

  • PERFECT SCENARIO won the Coupland’s Bakeries Mile Prelude giving Mark Walker his second win on the programme after previously winning the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race for the two-year-old with RHETORICAL.  For good measure Walker prepared the trifecta in that race with SKY ON FIRE and RUBICON CROSSING next home. He also claimed both Prydes EasiFeed prizes thus winning a tonne of feed as well.

  • The NZB Airfreight Road To Jericho over the 3000 metres trip is a race of real interest on the day.  Kevin Myers sent only the one horse, BOTTI, to Riccarton Park and the gelding proved too strong in the endurance test beating DEELS DONE and LEITRIM LAD.

  • Tina Comignaghi was the leading jockey whilst Riccarton Park conditioner Ross Beckett joined Mark Walker training two on the day with ITSONLYMONEY in the opener and impressive maiden winner GOLDIE’S CHANCE in the third.
