Filthy Horse Syndicate celebrate
  • A record number of 44 teams took part in the $5,000 Punters Challenge over the eight race programme.  With the winner being the Filthy Horse Syndicate with $3,441 at days end.
  • ATISHU had beaten a very strong field of three-year-olds over 1400 metres back on the first day and followed through on that form to be a dominant winner of the NZB Airfreight Stakes for the fillies. Now trained out of the Stephen Marsh satellite stable oncourse she beat fellow northern fillies EXQUISITE PEARL and LELAWALA.  KOZZI ASANO was the jockey and the win sets up the NZ Bloodstock Warstep Stakes to determine the winner of the Southern Filly of the Year series
  • WHALKE SONG prevailed in a very tight finish to win the Christchurch Casino Easter Cup from the talented LIGHTNING JACK and last start Group 3 winner BELLE FASCINO.
  • The days open sprint was named in memory of one of the great contributors to Riccarton Park racing the late Tom Toplis. Stephen Marsh’s eight-year-old sprinter ROCANTO scored the 10th win of his career downing the fast finishing dual Telegraph winner ENZO’S LAD.
  • The Pitman partnership lead the trainers on the day with three winners whilst Kozzi Asano and visiting northern apprentice Wiremu Pinn each rode two.
