PolyTrack Racing Season - 9th Day Review - 20 August
August 21, 2026
Mr Fortrus wins again, this time as favourite
  • As winter turns to summer the Polytrack season starts to wind down. Thursday 20 August was the ninth Polytrack meeting of 2026 with a six-race programme.
  • Riccarton Park trainer David Walsh prepared a brace of winners with PHAZED taking out the Rating 65 1200 metres event and GRAEME JOHN dropping back from open handicap class to win the Rating 75 1400 metres race. The later did so narrowly from the game HEY NOW who has developed a very good Polytrack record.
  • Favourite MR FORTRUS made it back-to-back Polytrack wins in the 1200 metres Open Handicap. The seven-year-old gelding trained by John Blackadder had won the Polytrack Championship at the Grand National Festival at his previous start. Jasmine Fawcett was again the rider.
