Polytrack Racing - Day 9 Review - 24 August
Diablo Blanco too good for rivals in 3yo
August 26, 2024
Diablo Blanco post-race with her big contingent of owners
  • Due to quirk in the dates calendar and there being five Saturdays in August the Clubs ninth Polytrack raceday for 2024 was moved to the Saturday and upgraded to Feature stakemoney.

  • Despite the historic pattern on small fields in the month following the Grand National Festival continuing there was some thrilling racing.

  • The days highlight was possibly race 4 when exciting filly DIABLO BLANCO was too good in the three-year-old event. Whilst she faced maidens her win was impressive over the 1200 metres and took her record to three wins from six starts. Richard Didham trains the grey who was ridden by Ashvin Goindasamy, who is residing temporarily in Christchurch.

  • Matthew and Michael Pitman prepared topweight CHARBANO to prevail in the TAB Rating 80, the days open metric mile, in the hands of Kylie Williams. Richard Didham’s ANALYST ran second ahead of DEEP BEAUTY.

  • John and Karen Parsons provided the quinella in the open sprint over 1200 metres with LA BELLA NERA, a daughter of their good mare ARIETTA, and MORE THAN WORDS. Gun rider Tina Comignaghi, a former Parsons apprentice, rode the winner.

  • Club membership manager, Alison Robin, shared in the thrill of owning the opening winner BELLUTA. The mare gave Mike McCann his seventh win on the Polytrack to continue a great affinity with the surface. The win provided Ashvin Goindasamy with the first of his two winners on the day, with Kylie Williams the other rider to do so.

  • All eight races were won by different trainers with Les Didham joining son Richard in the winners stall when TIARA ROSE won the Rating 75 2200 metres under rider Terry Moseley.
