Cote De Beaune sets track record for 1200 metres

Cote De Beaune post race, one of three winners for Te Akau
  • The new season training version of all-powerful Te Akau Racing unleashed on the seven race programme.  2022/23 record breaking trainer Mark Walker was joined in partnership by Sam Bergerson at the beginning of the season.  The team arrived in Christchurch on Sunday, 20 August for their annual spring camp and lost no time hitting their straps.

  • NAVALHA (Race 2), SORCHA in the Entain-NZB Insurance Peral Series (Race 5) and COTE DE BEAUNE in the Vale Lorraine Anderton all won for Te Akau.  The later setting a new track record for 1200 metres of 1-08.85.  Michael McNab, champion jockey for the past two seasons rode all three winners.

  • In keeping with the champion trainer theme, the South Islands leading trainer for last season Andrew Carston also won three races.  AL ZAHIRA, THAT’S CHARMING and TAKE THAT all saluting in the black and red colours.  All three were ridden by former Carston apprentice Kozzi Asano.

  • That left only one race, the last, with new mother Ashley Harrington in partnership with her father Russell McKay training 45/1 shot MR HASS to win for owner Derek Brook in the hands of Terry Moseley.
