Polytrack Racing - 3rd Day 2 June Review
Caitlyn Jay wins second race on the surface
June 06, 2023
  • The feature event on the Industry programme was a Rating 75 over the 1600 metres distance.  CAITLYN JAY won her second race from six attempts on the Polytrack surface for Andrew Carston and his former apprentice Kozzi Asano.

  • Three-year-old races always hold interest and whilst a disappointingly small field it was a competitive race.  Timaru trained RHONDA WOOD beat RICHARD TROMPER also trained at Phar Lap Raceway.  Bruce Tapper and Varma Ramhit train the former whilst Stephanie Faulkner trains the latter.

  • Ryan Thistoll grandson of legendary Riccarton Park trainer DJ (Ned) Thistoll is handy at preparing racehorses in his own right particularly after spotting a buy on gavelhouse.com.  LA STUPENDA made it back-to-back wins on the Polytrack for an ownership team of himself, his mother, fiancée Hayley Bennet and cricket legend Brendan McCullum.

  • Interestingly five of the ten races were trained by trainers training elsewhere than Riccarton Park to once again prove horses do not have to be trained on the Polytrack to perform on it on raceday.

  • Rangiora conditioner Paul Harris trained a double including WIND IN MY WINGS for Club Board Member and former Chairman Gordon Fulton.
