- The second day of the 2023 Polytrack season was a Feature meeting. The Feature licence was brought forward two weeks so that the Otago Racing Club could hold their Feature meeting on King’s Birthday Weekend.
- Owner Trainer Mike McCann’s pride and joy FRANKIE THE FOX won his eighth race, and second on the Polytrack, in the feature race the 1600 metres Open Handicap. Shankar Muniandy rode the seven-year-old who has now finished in the first four 26 times in his 50-start career.
- OKAY PAL over came a series of beaten runs due to tardy beginnings to win the Rating 87 sprint over the 1200 metres distance. Wiremu Pinn rode the six-year-old for Michael and Matthew Pitman who recorded their second win on the programme after PROSERVE had won three races earlier. PROSEVE set a new track record for the 2200 metres when winning.
- Fellow Riccarton Park trainer Lance Robinson also prepared two winners with ADANNAYA in the Good Luck Gareth Murfitt Rating 75 and FOREVER BABE in the next race the 1200 metres maiden.
- Northern riders Wiremu Pinn, Courtney Barnes and Jasmine Fawcett all rode doubles on the 10-race card after both Rating 65 races drew enough acceptances to run a consolation.
- The meeting saw the Club bid Gareth Murfitt farewell as he shifts to the IT industry after 6 years as Business Services Manager at Riccarton Park.
