Denby-Rose Tait returns on Steve Austin, her first riding success
- The last Polytrack meeting of mid 2023 was a day of doubles.
- Samantha Wynne showed her skills with a horse are not limited to the saddle when she trained ARDOUR to win the sixth on the programme and TURF WAR, a one time barrier rouge, to win the last of seven. Kin Kwo rode the former whist Tina Comignaghi rode the later in which previous trainer Kayla Milnes retains and ownership share.
- Kylie Williams rode a double with INCHAARJ, trained by former outstanding hoop Jamie Bullard, and LUVNWAR in the maiden three-year-old for Terris Rae.
- But the highlight of the day was without doubt the two wins by apprentice jockey Denby-Rose Tait. In front of her parents who had flown from Hawkes Bay Denby recorded her first winning ride aboard STEVE AUSTIN for Rangiora trainer Kenny Moore in the opening event the Speight’s Summit Ultra On Tap Maiden over 2200 metres. For good measure Denby came out in fifth race and with a daring front running display stole win number two aboard GEMMA FLITZ for her extremely proud employer Yaldhurst trainer Ross Beckett. By this time her grandparents had arrived after missing the flight earlier in the day. It was not coincidence that Denby’s family were on course as they were in Christchurch to share the talent your woman’s graduation as a nurse on Friday evening.
