Polytrack Racing - 11th Day Review
Te Akau produce two impressive winners
September 15, 2022
Illicit Miss post race
  • The 11th and final Polytrack racemeeting for 2022 was run on Wednesday 14 September 2022.

  • The seven race card was dominated by two Mark Walker trained mares who scored impressive wins for stable apprentice ‘Smiling’ Joe Kamaruddin.

  • Both four-year-olds, BELLE OF THE BALL easily won the Rating 65 1400 metres race whilst ILLICIT MISS was even more impressive winning the last event, the NZB Insurance Pearl series Race, also Rating 65 but over the 1600 metres distance.

  • Earlier in the day Lisa Allpress and Riccarton trainer Terri Rae combined to win with MARYWEKA who had been headed by KINDRED SPIRIT but under a canny ride came again on the inside to win.

  • Matthew and Michael Pitman, trainers of KINDRED SPIRIT, may have been disappointed with that result but not so in the previous race, the days opener.  Three-year-old filly CHARBANO, a purchase from Valachi Downs Dispersal Sale, made a most impressive debut settling behind the pace before coming away stylishly in the straight.
