Members of the Canterbury Jockey Club elected Gordon Fulton an Honorary Life Member at the Annual General Meeting held Wednesday 5 October 2022.
The latest in a long line of family members to have served as officials of the club Gordon retired as chairman at the AGM after a five-year term having succeeded Jeffrey McCall in the role in October 2017.
Gordon was elected as a city member appointment to the board in October 2013 after having been the North Canterbury Ward Committee representative from 2005. The ward committee structure came into being upon the merger of the Canterbury Jockey Club with the Riccarton Turf Club, and the North Canterbury, Hororata and Amberley Racing Clubs in 2003.
Having previously been a committee member and president of the North Canterbury Racing Club Gordon also served as a committee member and chairman of the Rangiora Racecourse Management Committee.
Gordon remains a member of the board of the Canterbury Jockey Club and a Trustee of the Christchurch Racecourse.
