Crossing Keeper Position Offered

The Canterbury Jockey Club seeks a motivated and responsible person for the position of Crossing Keeper at its Riccarton Park Racecourse.The position will be one of a team which reports to the Racecourse Manager and the Assistant Racecourse Manager.


The position requires a variety of skills including, a driver’s licence and the ability to work with farm type machinery as well as a high level of fitness and energy. It also requires the responsibility to work alone. The hours of work are 5am to 12 noon, Monday to Saturday.
A knowledge of training track requirements and an ability to work in and understand a horse dominated environment is of benefit.


The Crossing Keeper will need to have a current St John Workplace First Aid Course Certificate (NZQA units 6400, 6401 and 6402). If the applicant does not currently have one the Club will provide the opportunity to undertake the necessary training to achieve it.
