29 January behind "closed doors"

The Riccarton Park race meeting to be held on Saturday 29 January 2022 under the NZ COVID-19 Protection Framework RED will be run with only those people essential to the meeting taking place being in attendance.

Owners, Sponsors, Members, and Public cannot attend this Saturday.

The Canterbury Jockey Club has made this decision for Saturday given the close proximity of the ‘Red Traffic Light’ announcement to the race meeting and the response to previous racedays run under similar restrictions.

The Canterbury Jockey Club appreciates that this will be disappointing to racing supporters.

Decisions regarding attendance at race meetings from February onwards will be made prior to the third day of the Riccarton Park Summer Racing Season on Saturday 12 February 2022.

Racing fans and supporters can watch a raceday that features two $60,000 races, the KAM Transport Marlborough Cup and Speight’s Timaru Stakes via the Trackside TV Channel.
