Inflamed won the Group 3 feature Donaldson Brown SI Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes
- The Hororata Committee promotes the first day of the Autumn Racing Season and provided a very good raceday in good overhead and underfoot conditions with a real emphasis on children’s entertainment. A big crowd attended.
- Wingatui visitor INFLAMED had won the Lindauer Stewards Stakes on a rain impacted New Zealand Cup Day and got her second Group 3 win of the season in the feature event, the Donaldson Brown South Island Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes. Stable rider Corey Campbell partnered the Briand and Shane Anderton mare who had backed up from a win at the Beaumont Racing Club meeting on the Sunday. Highly rated POUR THE WINE and THIRD DECREE filled the minor placings.
- Hororata stalwarts Leslie and Margaret Seaton remember their husbands’ family with sponsorship of the open staying race the Seaton Family Hororata Gold Cup. The Anderton partnership came so close to winning this race as well but had to settle for second in a desperately close finish being nosed out by ROYAL VALOUR. Leading South Island apprentice Donovan Cooper rode the winner for Ashburton based owners and trainers Bevan and Robyn Wilson.
- For over 40 years Petersens Jewellers have provided a bracelet as a trophy for an age group race. This year it was attached to the three-year-old 1400 metres event. The Oaks Stud’s white and blue colours have a long history of success at Riccarton Park and local trainer Terri Rae prepared CASHLA BAY for another win at the venue. Leah Hemi has combined to be a potent combination with Rae and rode the filly who will head to Listed assignments.
- Another local trainer with a very good strike rate is Jamie Bullard and he won the two-year-old race with HEZZAROCSTAR in a desperately close finish over the Te Akau trained ENCHARTMENT.
- Te Akau Racing conditioners Mark Walker and Sam Bergerosn did win the last with PERLINO gaining a golden ticket entry to the TAB Southern Alps Challenge in the process.
