Green Luck claims all the way victory.
April 22, 2024
Stephanie Faulkner & Kylie Williams celebrate post race.
  • Phar Lap Raceway’s Steph Faulkner is an unsung star of NZ racing. An apprentice jockey, jockey, jumps jockey, owner, Starter (Possibly the first woman in the world to hold that job) and even a raceday caterer making outstanding whitebait sandwiches. Now she is a Group 3 winning trainer after preparing GREEN LUCK to win the time-honoured Coca-Cola Canterbury Gold Cup. The one time Hong Kong galloper led all the way and defied a strong field in the hand of Kylie Williams.

  • Matamata visitor part owned by one time Methven trainer Pam Gerard beat THIRD DECREE and MILLEFIORI in the Daphne Bannan Memorial Great Easter Stakes for the sprinters. Top rider Lisa Allpress rode the mare for Pam and training partner Mike Moroney.

  • The days other feature also went the way of a North Island stable with Waverley visitor NO RAIN EVER winning the New Zealand Bloodstock Warstep Stakes. SENSE OF TIMING for the Walker/Bergerson team and RACE ACE for Fraser Auret filled the minor placings. The Warstep was the final leg of the New Zealand Bloodstock Southern Filly of the Year series with EPEE BEEL , 5th in the Warstep taking the honours with nine points. Bill Thurlow trained the winner with Lily Sutherland the rider.

  • Lisa Allpress was the leading rider on the programme with two winners and all ten races were won by different trainers.
