- The fourth and final day of the Autumn Racing Season was run under the banner of the Riccarton Turf ward committee with nine strong races and an average field size of 12.6.
- Te Akau Racing had dominated the autumn two-year-old races with NUCLEOZOR and whilst that horse was absent, they continued the winning run with DISCRETION RULES in the days feature the Berkley Stud Champagne Stakes. Cambridge visitor ZIGGY STARDUST finished strongly for second ahead of the other Te Akau runner in the race COLONEL WARDEN.
- Michael and Matthew Pitman prepared four winners including two quinellas. STAR BALLOT and TOMYTURBO finished 1-2 over 2600 metres on Saturday 20 April and repeated the dose in the Hornby Club Founders Cup over the same distance. Favourite SACRED DREAM ran third.
- Whilst having been delisted the Avon City Ford Easter Cup carried the heritage stake of $80,000, the same as a listed race. Matamata visitor HARLECH capped off some very consistent form to gain a well-deserved win from TAB Southern Alps Challenge winner GREEN LUCK and ADANNAYA. Lisa Allpress rode the Mike Moroney and Pam Gerard trained seven-year-old.
- Lisa Allpress rode three winners to be the most successful rider on the programme.
