May 19 Races

•PRETTY GOOD EXCUSE won the days feature event the Yesberg Insurance Services Celebrating 30 years  in dominant fashion from FLYING IBIS and ELECTRONIC MOTION.

•The southern region runs a number of Maiden races with the condition that two-year-olds can compete.  This is not an option that is taken up very often but it was in the 1000 metre maiden with HOT FUSS winning for a great Club supporter in Nigel Babbage and his wife Phillipa.  Ken and Pam Hughes train the filly as they do all of the Babbage horses with Kylie Williams the successful rider.

•The easiest winner of the day was perhaps ZAWHIP who won the Rating 65 1200 metre race in the hands of Chris Johnson for owner trainer Bevan Wilson who races the ZACINTO filly with wife Robyn and daughters Rebecca and Monique.

•Riccarton Park trainer ‘Jumbo’ Didham continued his recent good run of form with RAWMATERIAL the three-year-old that won the last on the day the Racecourse Hotel and Motor Lodge Rating 65.  In so doing RAWMATERIAL took his record to two wins and three fourths from only five starts.

The Pitman training partnership saddled the trifecta in the open sprint with DYNAMIC an ‘odds on’ favourite beating ENZO’S LAD and JAZZMAN.
