7 race programme on May 5 2022

• Positive comments flowed after the inaugural raceday on the Riccarton Park Polytrack.
• Seven races were run with horses winning from many differing positions in the running.
• One of the greatest supporters of the project has been local trainer been local trainer Ross Becket who put his money where is mouth is by sponsoring the days feature the Rating 74 1600.  Joining him in sponsoring the race was mine host at Coasters Tavern Ross Murdoch.  A fitting result unfolded with SHE’S RECOMMENDED running the field ragged under stable employee BB Hong. SHE’S RECOMMEND (image) is trained by Ross Beckett and part owned by Ross Murdoch along with a syndicate which incudes Canterbury Jockey Club Chief Executive Tim Mills, Business Services Manager Gareth Murfitt, Builder Dave Lucas, and past Chairman Jeff McCall.
• The honour of winning the very first Polytrack race goes to EULOGY SHOW, part owned by racing stalwart Calvin Fisher.   Trained at Balcairn by Centaine Spittles and ridden by Krishna Mudhoo EULOGY SHOW won the 2200metres Maiden by 10½ lengths.
• Rohan Mudhoo joined his brother Krishna as winning jockeys on the Polytrack when he combined with his employer Mike McCann to win the Fulton Hogan Maiden aboard MR RAFIKI.  Fulton Hogan was the main contractor to construct the civil works component of the Synthetic Track.
• Stephen Marsh holds the unique achievement of winning a race at both New Zealand’s Polytrack racecourses.  His main base is at Cambridge and his Riccarton Park satellite stable prepared FAH SAI to win the Paradigm Civil Maiden under Samantha Wynne.  The principal of Paradgim Civil is Rene Nielsen the engineer at the Cambridge and Riccarton Park Synthetic Track projects and he is also overseeing the Awapuni Synthetic Track construction.
